The flavours weave through dark chocolate, coffee beans, mocha, blackberries and beefstock notes. Seamless, intense, balanced and focused, there is very good length. Rich and ripe. Love it. This is BIG – impenetrable in deep purple colour, opulent in aroma and complex in flavours that take the palate for one long, enjoyable ride. The Marananga sub-region of the Barossa with its rich, red clay and sandy soils specialises in some of the most distinctive Shiraz in the Valley. Here, it is on display in all of its black fruited and lightly savoury, mineral element. Dark plum fruits, liquorice, woodsy spice, espresso, bitter chocolate, black olive with a touch of pan forte, are all drawn together by woodsy oak. Oak, a warm and an inviting feature, is joined by supple tannins. Plenty of oomph all round. Consider further ageing, it will be rewarded. Published Aug 2024

To me, shiraz from Marananga speaks of compression and fruit density with an ironstone-studded, ferrous character to the tannin structure. That train of thought certainly manifests itself in this wine. There is a velvety fruit flow, layers of spice and an extended finish of macerated berry fruits, chocolate and softly spoken vanillin oak. An excellent wine from a strong vintage. Published Dec 2023

This is a rich, slippery-smooth shiraz with blackberry, roasted plum, asphalt and choc-vanilla characters pouring throughout.
